True Joy: Dulux Colour of the Year 2025 announced
Inspiration and tips for incorporating True Joy into your home.
Every September, Dulux announces their Colour of the Year, and True Joy is the chosen colour for 2025.
Described as an uplifting yellow it is created to fill your homes with creative energy, optimism and pride.
This year, there’s a growing sense across the world that life must be better elsewhere. In times like these, there’s a desire to break free, press reset and welcome in the new. With True Joy, you can create joyful pops of colour and add excitement to your walls.

Whenever the new Colour of the Year is announced, whether it’s from Dulux, Pantone or Benjamin Moore, I’m always a little uncertain about the choice, particularly from Pantone!
Following the announcement from Dulux that True Joy was their chosen Colour of the Year 2025, I used this uplifting yellow as my inspiration for this months colour montage.
As I’ve mentioned before:
Yellow is just not my go-to colour. I’m not a huge fan when it comes to the garden, (with the exception of sunflowers), I don’t believe I’ve ever owned an item of yellow clothing and certainly not when it comes to interior design; I find it’s a really tricky colour to work with.
So why would Dulux have chosen this shade for their Colour of the Year?
Well, yellow is linked with lots of benefits. Being associated with the sun, it stands for optimism, joy and happiness.
True Joy can be used on it’s own as a bold statement colour (if you’re brave enough), or as an accent colour in combination with one of three unique colour stories:
Bold
If you’re wanting to make a statement, this combination of bright, bold and uplifting shades won’t disappoint.
Balanced by neutral shades and topped off with True Joy, it can create a fun, friendly and upbeat feeling in your home.
Human
Celebrating human craftsmanship, this is my favourite colour story. It combines natural shades of wood and clay, reflecting the raw materials used in these handmade processes.
Proud
Somewhere that feels rooted, a place that’s rich with layers of diverse individual influences.
Inspired by deep, rich earthy tones that adds an element of warmth to your home.
“So go on, if you dream it, you can create it.
You just have to believe it.”
Hopefully, I’ve been able to showcase how each of these colour stories can work effectively, even if you’re not a huge fan of yellow.

Interesting choice for Colour of the Year, & I really do love how it can be put with other bold colours to create a statement look. Not for me, far too scary, but the selected images & colour palettes are great Sonya. Good luck with the Bathroom journey! 💛
